The Preschool is situated on the ground floor of the nursery and is made up of two interconnecting rooms that allow children to free flow between activities, access equipment that interests them and engage in learning opportunities with a wide range of resources that will prepare them for school.
The main room has a large role play area, dedicated writing area with a large table that sits 8 children at a time, construction toys to develop fine motor skills ready for writing in school and more. This room also includes a self registration boards where children find their name card and display on the wall this helps them to start recognizing words and prepare them for writing.
The children also have access to tablets that are loaded with fun and education games which change throughout the year to support the topics and themes of learning the children engage in. There large range of science and finding out equipment including, magnifying glasses, programmable robot toys, shapes, magnets, compare bears for size and counting games and a book corner with soft area to sit and read both factual and fictional books.
There is also a small world area and these toys change depending on the topic and interests of the children. There is also a nursery desktop computer loaded with educational games that the children have access to.
The messy room/kitchen provides a large space that is used for meal times and also has a large range of messy resources and materials for painting, water/sand, sensory play, junk modelling, feet/hand/body painting, chalking, cutting as well as allowing children to engage in cookery, wood work with safety goggles and child sized tools etc joined to this is an art annex situated in our newly build conservatory this has magnetic boards, dry wipe writing boards, easels and a large black board. The messy/kitchen can also be used as space to set up a dark sensory tent and other camping equipment with torches.
The preschool also have access to the nursery garden throughout their dedicated free flow time twice daily that runs for an hour and half morning and afternoon, they also go on regular trips and outing both locally and further afield when using public transport on planned trips.
